Canadiens vs Rangers third period thread

The Habs have had some colossally bad first periods, it’s nice to know they can suck in the second period too. Teams that give up 25 shots in 40 minutes of play don’t usually get good results.

Dominic Moore scored his first in the first, Derek Stepan scored his second shortly after the second began, so by that logic Kevin Hayes should have his third goal of the year in the third period. And we also get St. Louis’s 8th goal in the second.

Presuming tonight’s game is a loss, the Habs have been outscored (so far) 31-5 in their 7 losses giving up an average of 4.43 goals and scoring at a .71 clip. The wins have been nice, the losses (mostly to contending teams) have been messy affairs.

If you were going to a guess who leads the Habs in ice time through the first two periods of play would you say Alexei Emelin? No, me neither. Double shifting Prust isn’t an ideal situation, but during this last stretch of games Prust has been consistently good so I can’t argue too much with Therrien’s usage of him. Bryan Allen seeing so much ice time and on the PK worries me because he hasn’t been consistently good at any time in the last three years, let alone the last three games.
