- Skilled winger Sven Andrighetto knows that he’ll no longer be playing under the radar in Hamilton.
- Take a peek at what NHL.com had to say about the Subban signing. All I can say is THANK GOD!!
- Subban had a message for tennis star Eugenie Bouchard. The next Canadian power couple?
- NBC Sports took the time to breakdown Subban’s contract and compare it to the rest of the league. Do you think Subban is worth being the third highest paid player in the NHL? Or does it even matter? Take a look at what the future will hold for the NHL and why Subban will be a steal at $9M in as little as three years.
- Is their some foreshadowing in the Subban contract for what all superstar NHL players will be making?Perhaps the NHL is on the way to having a salary cap that ends up more in line with the NBA or NFL. The highest paid player in the NHL has a cap hit of 9.54M (Alex Ovechkin) whereas the highest in the NBA and NFL well exceeds the $20M mark (Lebron James and Aaron Rodgers). Will there be a $20M NHL player sooner than we think?
- Adam Proteau thinks the mega-contract is a win-lose for Marc Bergevin.
- The Top 25 Under 25 profiles are on their way, Here are the recently graduated and departed players that won’t be taking part. (editor’s note: non-Subban talk! Huzzah!)
Around the NHL
- Check out today’s NHL 30-in-30 team: New Jersey Devils. With ex-Hab Mike Cammalleri in the fold, 42-year old legend Jaromir Jagr leading the offense, and 42-year old legend Martin Brodeur getting led out of town, will the Devils be a playoff team this year?
- Phil Kessel thinks the Leafs are a playoff team this year. What do you think? The Bruins are weaker after losing Iginla, and Chara climbing the age ladder, but are still the reigning President’s Trophy winning team. The Lightning no doubt got stronger with the addition of Garrison and Stralman on the backend and Boyle and Drouin up front. The Habs’ young core is getting into their prime years and with the additions of speed on the backend with Gilbert and the depth down the middle with Malhotra, the Habs are no doubt a more skilled team this year. The Florida Panthers are also much improved with the additions of Dave Bolland and last years deadline acquisition of Roberto Luongo don’t forget. So do the Leafs really have a chance of being a top three team in this division?
- Take a look at Phil Kessel and tennis great Roger Federer playing ball hockey! We know Roger is good with a ball and Phil is good at hockey..so I wonder who won?
- Check out this Hockey-themed wedding! I’m not married yet so I am taking notes on this one.
- Looks like California is going to get an outdoor hockey game again this year. Take a look at the non-NHL city who is going to be hosting it this year!
