Max Pacioretty has joined the Montreal Canadiens on their western road-trip, after head coach Michel Therrien confirmed just days ago that Max is day-to-day. This is great news for the multitude of Habs fans out west, and present company is no exception.

As you know, Lars Eller was named the NHL’s 2nd Player of the Week yesterday. The season is “still in diapers”, as we say in Chile, but he’s also second in the league in scoring as we speak. Not too shabby for Larry. (He hates being called that. Sorry, because the nickname stuck. Also, he doesn’t like his line being called the “Egg Line”. He doesn’t mind the “Kid Line”, on account of Eller/Galchenyuk/Gallagher look more like kids than eggs.)

Around the NHL

Remember that whole goalie controversy in Vancouver last year, that the media milked dry until Cory Schneider’s surprise trade to New Jersey at July’s NHL draft? Well, Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider will meet again tonight when Schneider returns to Vancouver, this time in a Devils‘ jersey. Just don’t say the C-word. Controversy, people.

Yes, three losses – but how successful will Laviolette’s replacement be with what he inherited? Broad Street Hockey breaks down what former NHLer and Flyers’ assistant coach and newly-minted head coach Craig Berube’s going to do.
