Canadiens vs. Sharks third period thread

The Habs went down by two 26 seconds into the second period on a shot from the point tipped in by Joe Pavelski. Dale Weise had a nice chance to redeem his team a couple of minutes later, but was unable to place his shot, allowing Martin Jones to make an easy save.

The Sharks had six shots on net for the period by the five minute mark of the second. On their eighth shot and fourteenth shot attempt of the period, the Sharks extended their lead to 3-0 with former Hab Dainius Zubrus scoring his first of the season as he was left alone along with Joe Pavelski in front of the net, and made no mistake backhanding it into the top corner.

Dustin Tokarski was pulled after the third goal in an attempt to give the Habs a spark. Michel Therrien also started to mix up the lines, with Sven Andrighetto moved up alongside Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller, and P.K. Subban playing alongside Nathan Beaulieu. Therrien seemed to be looking anywhere for a boost. He would find it in one Dale Weise, who took a short lob pass from P.K. Subban on the fly and released a shot that bobbled off a few Sharks players before finding its way through Martin Jones to cut the Sharks’ lead to 3-1. (Watch the goal here.)
