Ouellet played his first game with the team on Opening Night against Toronto, but as the Canadiens have gotten healthy on the blue line with the return of David Schlemko and then Shea Weber, Ouellet has been pushed down the lineup. Ouellet has not played since November 21, when the Canadiens lost 5-2 to the New Jersey Devils.
This signals that Noah Juulsen is likely close to a return, maybe as soon as Sunday in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
Ouellet was brought in this summer on a one year deal after having been bought out by the Detroit Red Wings. The 24-year-old would be sent to the Laval Rocket should he clear waivers, and would join a defence that includes Karl Alzner and Victor Mete.
