Canadiens vs. Senators Game Thread, roster, lines, and how to watch

The Montreal Canadiens will be in Kanata on Saturday to take on the Ottawa Senators in the fourth preseason game for both teams, and the second half of the home-and-home series. The Senators took the first game in overtime, and the Canadiens will look to avenge the loss.

This will also be the first of two road games for the Canadiens, who will travel from Ottawa to play in Toronto on Sunday. They will then host Boston in the brand new Videotron Centre in Québec City before wrapping up their pre-season calendar at the Bell Centre against the Maple Leafs.

Cuts are expected to be announced after the game on Saturday, as the St. John’s IceCaps training camp starts up on tomorrow.

Puck drop against the Senators is at 3:00 PM EDT/12:00 PM PDT

The Habs will be icing a very bare-bones lineup, primarily highlighting the depth the team has on the fourth line. The Senators will be icing a lineup heavy with NHL regulars, so the Habs mission today will be to contain the Sens’ forwards in a defensive-minded contest. The only NHL line being iced by the Habs is their presumed fourth line to start the season consisting of Paul Byron, Torrey Mitchell, and Philip Danault.

The rest of the roster, including the defence, are all destined for the IceCaps, except for defender Noah Juulsen, who should be headed back to junior for his over-age season soon. This is also likely to be Yuri Alexandrov’s last chance to make an impression before potentially continuing his tryout in the AHL.

Erik Karlsson will be making his preseason debut tonight after taking part in the World Cup of Hockey. On the Habs side, Andrei Markov and Alexei Emelin are not yet playing despite being back at practice.
