Canadiens vs. Blackhawks second period thread

The Canadiens were only able to manage one shot attempts in the first six-and-a-half minutes of the game, and were down 9-3 on shot attempts when the Blackhawks scored the first goal of the game, with Jonathan Toews netting his 17th of the year on a cross-crease pass from Andrew Shaw.

The Habs tied it very quickly after, with Paul Byron redirecting a David Desharnais pass past Corey Crawford to draw the teams tied 1-1 just two minutes later. The Blackhawks jumped back into the lead two minutes later, with Ryan Garbutt slapping one past Mike Condon to put the Hawks up 2-1.

The Canadiens didn’t look particularly sharp in the first. They are definitely not the team putting their stamp on the game so far. The Habs’ defense didn’t have a good first period, with Nathan Beaulieu standing out in the coach’s eyes as the most off his game, as Beaulieu was stapled to the bench after giving up the puck a couple of times.

The Habs trail 2-1 heading into the second.
