Starting out with an excellent game versus the Vegas Golden Knights, the Canadiens followed it up with a poor performance in Arizona three days later. Now they’ll have to get their only win of the excursion in St. Louis when they take on the Blues.

On paper, St. Louis is the easiest opponent of the three on this trip, sitting at a .500 record. The Blues are tied for the second-worst scoring total so far this season with just 19 goals. Last night’s match versus the New Jersey Devils was best summed up by a play to Brandon Saad who accepted a pass with an open net and managed to send the puck out the opposite side of the crease. Defensively, they’re equal with the Canadiens, so the advantage has to be to Montreal in this one.

Montreal is dealing with an injury to Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, which has necessitated a lineup shuffle. As the sliding puzzle pieces move around the board, Christian Dvorak gets placed into the centre of it, eligible to come off Injured Reserve and play his first game of the season. With that move, Alex Newhook will play on the wing where he finished last game. At the very least, it will give the third line a new look as Martin St-Louis attempts to get the most of his full forward lineup.
