Montreal Canadiens send Gustav Lindström to the Laval Rocket

The Montreal Canadiens have loaned defenceman Gustav Lindström to the Laval Rocket, the team announced on Saturday.

There was a roster move needed with the return of Christian Dvorak from Long-Term Injured Reserve. Lindström was the only extra defenceman on the roster, and his assignment to Laval might end up just being a move on paper. This indicates that the team did not want to send down Joel Armia or Juraj Slafkovský at this time. They also didn’t want to subject a forward like Michael Pezzetta or Jesse Ylönen to waivers.

It also means that Rafaël Harvey-Pinard is healthy enough to not need to be placed on the injured list.

Lindström played two games with the Canadiens after being recalled when David Savard was injured. He was relegated as an extra when Kaiden Guhle returned.

After Saturday, the Laval Rocket don’t have another game until next Sunday, when they travel to Winnipeg for two games against the Manitoba Moose.
