The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenceman Noah Juulsen to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

The deal will pay Juulsen $700,000 in the NHL and $125,000 in the AHL. He will require waivers to be sent to the American Hockey League this season. He was set to become a restricted free agent on Friday.
Juulsen has had a rough two seasons with injuries. His season was shut down in 2018-19 after three games in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, and injuries limited him to 13 games in the 2019-20 season. The most positive news was that Juulsen played in the Rocket’s final game of the season and took part in the Return to Play camp for the Montreal Canadiens.
The 23-year-old was Montreal’s first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and had three assists for the Rocket this season. He has two goals and six assists in 44 career NHL games.
