The Montreal Canadiens assigned defenceman Logan Mailloux to the Laval Rocket on Tuesday.

Mailloux was in his first training camp with the team and performed well enough to earn himself a long look at camp. He played in three of the team’s five pre-season games, playing 60 minutes. He had two shots on goal.

He will now go to the Laval Rocket where he will be expected to log significant minutes in his first professional season. The Rocket started training camp on Monday and have two pre-season games this week.

The Canadiens are off to Mont-Tremblant until Saturday’s pre-season finale in Ottawa against the Senators. The team will take nine defenders on the trip as they continue their final evaluations for the roster that will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 11. The team now has 27 players in camp: 15 forwards, nine defenders, and three goaltenders. Three of those players are currently day-to-day with injuries as of yesterday.

The team did not practice on Tuesday and return to the ice Wednesday before leaving on their trip.
