The Montreal Canadiens have sent forward Joshua Roy to the Laval Rocket on Wednesday, the team announced.

Roy was an extra at the team’s practice, leading to questions surrounding whether they would make him a healthy scratch. In the end, the team decided to send him back to the Rocket, who host the Utica Comets at Place Bell on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old played six NHL games with the Canadiens, scoring a goal and adding an assist. He was recalled due to Josh Anderson’s injury, and with Anderson back, the Canadiens had an extra forward. Jesse Ylönen had been sitting out as the extra forward in recent games.

Roy has played 34 AHL games, with 12 goals and 18 assists. He is in his first professional hockey season. It is possible the Canadiens recall a forward after Wednesday’s Rocket game as the team currently has 12 forwards on the roster.

The Rocket, who are 8-0-1 in their last nine games, have received Justin Barron, Mitchell Stephens and Roy in recent days.
