On Sunday afternoon, the Canadiens placed Lias Andersson and Philippe Maillet on waivers in an attempt to send them to the AHL to participate in Laval Rocket training camp. The minor-league camp opens on Monday.

Lias Andersson expressed his excitement about joining the Montreal Canadiens when he signed as a free agent in the summer and wanted to make a big enough impression in NHL training camp to challenge for a spot. He didn’t perform to those expectations, however, and is once more heading to the minors. He has been an exceptional contributor at the AHL level, and will be one of the Rocket’s top producers this season if he makes it to through waivers.

Philippe Maillet spent the last two seasons in the KHL with Metallurg Magnitogorsk after a couple of seasons in the Washington Capitals organization. He will play in the AHL once more, where he had posted 92 points in 113 games before heading overseas.

The four players placed on waivers yesterday — Nicolas Beaudin, Lucas Condotta, Brady Keeper, and Mitchell Stephens — all cleared and will be attending Laval Rocket training camp.
