Canadiens recall Sven Andrighetto and Mark Barberio

Following a demotion to the AHL earlier this week, the Canadiens have announced that both Mark Barberio and Sven Andrighetto have been recalled from the St. John’s IceCaps.

During his one-game stay in the AHL, Andrighetto scored a goal and added an assist, whereas Mark Barberio earned two assists.

The players were sent down and recalled quickly for a few reasons, most notably that the Canadiens had a very light schedule this week, which means the team not only saved money on the salary cap, but seeing as both players are on a waiver clock, they avoided using up precious waiver exemption days. Barberio and Andrighetto are waiver eligible once they serve another 11 days on the roster.

Both players will be at practice today. The team plays next on Friday at home against the San Jose Sharks.
