Emelin missed practice today as his wife is expected to give birth to their third child today. He may be able to play, but with the team down to five defencemen without Emelin, it’s wise to not take a chance.
Hanley has played five games with the Canadiens and has yet to register a point. He will likely play alongside Zach Redmond tonight. In the AHL, Hanley has two goals and six assists in 21 games.
The St. John’s IceCaps spent the week in Montreal, so they didn’t need to worry about travel time.
The team also sent down forward Sven Andrighetto. He has been back practicing after suffering an upper body injury, and was considered a healthy scratch against Anaheim on Tuesday.
He was approaching his 10-game and 30-day window to require waivers again, so with the emergence of Michael McCarron and Chris Terry on the Habs fourth line, the Canadiens made the move to stop Andrighetto’s clock.
