Montreal Canadiens recall Gustav Lindström on emergency basis, David Savard out six to eight weeks

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled defender Gustav Lindström from the Laval Rocket on an emergency basis on Tuesday morning, the team announced.

This means that both Kaiden Guhle and David Savard will likely not be available for Tuesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.

The team also announced Savard will be out for six to eight weeks with a hand fracture. Savard was injured in the game on Monday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Lindström, as an emergency recall, will not start his 10-game or 30-day limit before requiring waivers again. He played four games in the AHL with the Rocket, and did not earn a point. He was -6. Lindström’s recall, like Armia’s over the weekend, will allow the young players in Laval to continue to get playing time in Laval.

Lindström has played 128 career NHL games, with two goals and 23 assists. He was acquired from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Jeff Petry.

All 32 teams are in action tonight and game start times are staggered throughout the night.
