Montreal Canadiens recall Cayden Primeau, Corey Schueneman from the Laval Rocket

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket, the team announced on Monday.

Primeau is expected to start the game on Tuesday when the team hosts the Detroit Red Wings. The Laval Rocket don’t play until Friday but even with sending Philippe Desrosiers back to the ECHL’s Trois-Rivières Lions, they have two goaltenders in Jakub Dobeš and Kevin Poulin.

It is possible that Primeau returns to the Rocket after Tuesday’s game depending on the health of Jake Allen, who missed Monday’s practice with a therapy day. Primeau lost his first NHL start of the season to the Philadelphia Flyers, and was in goal for all four of the Rocket’s 4-0 road trip in Manitoba, Rockford, and Milwaukee last week.

With David Savard out for the season and Jordan Harris missing Monday’s practice, the team also recalled Corey Schueneman from the Rocket.

Schueneman has one assist in four NHL games this season. He has five goals and 16 assists in 58 AHL games.

The Canadiens also have games Thursday at home against the Washington Capitals and Saturday night in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.
