The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have recalled defenceman Brett Kulak from the Laval Rocket.

Kulak has been the top defenceman for the Laval Rocket this season. He is leading the team in power play points. In 19 games he has three goals and eight assists for Joël Bouchard’s team. Overall he brings experience to the line-up, including 101 NHL games with the Calgary Flames, 136 AHL games, and 39 ECHL games.
He joins the Canadiens to help bolster a struggling defensive corps that is trying to overcome injuries to Shea Weber and now Noah Juulsen. As the team only had 22 active players on their roster, Kulak was free to take a roster spot without having to move another player out.
Kulak was obtained via trade just prior to the start of the season from the Calgary Flames for veteran defencemen Matt Taormina and Rinat Valiev.

In a corresponding move, the Laval Rocket have recalled Ryan Culkin from the ECHL Maine Mariners.
