The Montreal Canadiens announced that they have re-signed defenceman Mikey Reilly to a two-year contract worth $1.5M per season.

Reilly was acquired for a fifth round pick during the 2018 trade deadline from the Minnesota Wild. The pick was previously acquired in a trade for Jakub Jerabek. In his first full season with the Canadiens, he played 57 games scoring three goals and 11 points. Positive advanced stats (54.84% of on-ice shot attempts) show that he is useful in a third pairing role.
He was scratched several times during the season, with consistency being the biggest issue for the soon-to-be 26-year old. He received his qualifying offer from the Montreal Canadiens, and this new deal came rather quickly avoiding the risk of facing off in arbitration.
This two-year contract will carry him through to unrestricted free agency with a nice raise from his previous two-year contract with a $725,000 cap hit per season.
Reilly will add his name to the defencemen looking to shore up the left side of the Canadiens defence along with Victor Mete, Karl Alzner, Brett Kulak, Gustav Olofsson, Otto Leskinen, and David Sklenicka.
