Paul Byron does not have fracture, currently day-to-day

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that forward Paul Byron does not have a fracture, and is day-to-day with an upper body injury.

Byron suffered the injury during the Sunday afternoon game against the Edmonton Oilers after falling hard onto the ice arm-first.

[Injury Report] Paul Byron is done for the day with an upper-body injury

It’s been a difficult season injury-wise for Byron. He underwent surgery on his shoulder at the conclusion of last season which projected him to return sometime into October, but he returned early, in time to play a few preseason games.

He suffered a lower-body injury towards the end of October, and he missed the entire month of November as a result.  He build up some momemtum in December and January, putting up 11 points in 23 games, including two game-winning goals, but a three-game suspension for a hit to the head once again brought his season to a halt.

Byron was hoping to put everything behind him, but now this injury in just his second game back from the suspension will once again force him to miss some time.

He has already missed 17 games total so far this season, considered a loss for a team that exploits his speed and his penalty-killing ability.

So far this season in 36 games, he has 10 goals and 9 assists, time will tell if all these injuries will halt him from having a third consecutive 20-goal season.

The team also announced that Andrew Shaw has not been cleared by doctors and Tomas Tatar also missed Tuesday’s morning skate with a virus.
