Carey Price (G, NHL): the team remains mum on the true nature of Carey Price’s injury, however the word on the street is that Price suffered a knee injury, and the organization chose a non-invasive recovery rather than undergoing surgery and ending his season.
A video that surfaced recently from an on-ice session showed Carey Price labouring heavily to skate on his right leg. Although a recent video shows him practicing his lateral movement. At this point of the season, and given Montreal’s fortunes, it may be best to shut him down for the rest of the season.
Daniel Carr (LW/RW, NHL): The only luck the Habs are having is bad luck. Daniel Carr was a lone bright light for the Habs in December, scoring goals while the majority of the team was under a severe production drought. Unfortunately for Carr took a weird spill into the boards while chasing down a puck and injured his knee. This effectively ends his regular season, as the recovery is slated to be three months.
Paul Byron (LW, NHL): In the midst of a career year, and one of the few bright spots for the Habs this season, Byron was injured in the first period on January 19 against the Bruins, did not return for the second period, and was placed on the Injured Reserve in what was deemed a Lower Body Injury. Recovery was put at two to three weeks, but he just began skating, and looks to be taking things pretty easy for now.
Lucas Lessio (LW, NHL): In his Canadiens debut on February 2, Lessio took a low bridge hit from Radko Gudas and had to be helped off the ice. He will be absent about 2-3 weeks.
Michael Bournival (LW, AHL): No information is available as to the nature of Bournival’s injury, but he has missed the last two games for the IceCaps. The hope is that it is not related to the post-concussion symptoms that kept him out of action for the first half of the season.
Markus Eisenschmid (C, AHL): It’s been a bad year for receiving crushing hits for Markus Eisenschmid. On November 13th he was levelled in a game against the Marlies and missed 13 games. On January 29 he was dummied against the boards on an arguably late hit on a zone entry against the Portland Pirates, and was taken out of the game. He was taken out of the game, and has missed the two games since then.
Victor Bartley (D, AHL): Bartley made his IceCaps debut on January 20, and was subsequently immediately injured, not finishing the game. He then missed the next five games, but according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA he should be in the line-up this week-end.
Connor Crisp (LW, AHL) has missed the last 35 games for the IceCaps after being injured on October 30. No information has been officially released on the nature of his injury, although he is skating and taking part in practice with the team.
Martin Reway (F, NLA): It has been quite the eventful season for the young Habs prospect. When he isn’t in the midst of organizational drama, he’s on the ice scoring goals. But a huge headshot took him out of the game on January 23, and put him on the shelf with a bad concussion. Although he has started riding the stationary bike for a bit, HC Fribourg Head Coach Christian Dubé said “it is not possible to determine the date for a return with such an injury.”
