“I Dreamed a Dream” Habs edition

The Montreal Canadiens have lost yet another game. I suppose there is not much more that can be done, other than to sing away the pain.

There was a time when PDO was kind,
When the doubts were small
And their games inviting.
There was a time when goals were scored
And the Corsi was strong
And the lines were exciting.
There was a time
Then it all went wrong.

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And the team was winning
I dreamed the record didn’t lie
I dreamed the gods would be forgiving.

Then I was glad and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There were few changes to be made
No goal undone, no win untasted.

But the IR comes in sight
With its voice as soft as thunder
As it tears our team apart
As it turns our dreams to pain.

He took us on a magic ride,
He filled our games with endless wonder
He took the trophies in his stride
But he was gone when winter came.

And still I dream he’ll be healthy
And they will raise the Cup together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are hurts we cannot weather.

I had a dream this team would be
So different from this hell we’re living
So different now from what it seemed
Now MT’s killed the dream I dreamed.
