UPDATE: Pearson will miss four to six weeks with his injury

Before the second period versus the Buffalo Sabres, the Montreal Canadiens announced that Tanner Pearson would be unable to return to the game. He had blocked a shot with his hand in the opening frame, and is ruled out with an upper-body injury.

Pearson started the season well, being one of the club’s top producers before tapering off as the weeks went on. He played just 14 games in 2022-23 with the Vancouver Canucks, and the hope was that he could enjoy a full season of health and perhaps be flipped to a contending team at the trade deadline. He was playing his 27th consecutive game for the Canadiens when his injury occurred.

We’ll wait to get an official report on what the timeline for his return is. The Canadiens play again on Sunday versus the Nashville Predators, and have Michael Pezzetta on the roster to fill a spot, but there could be a call-up from Laval on the way in short order.
