With so many prospects coming out of the NCAA, it’s important to remember the strict rules set forth for prospects to keep their amateur status. Any violation of the rules, and the players could lose that status and end their NCAA eligibility. Here are some quick points around the rules:

  • First time development camp attendees can have food and lodging paid for by the team for just the first 48 hours upon their arrival to camp. If they wish to remain after 48 hours they must pay their own way for everything.
  • Returning players must for their own food and lodging for the duration of the development camp.
  • Players must pay for their own round-trip transportation.
  • Players cannot keep any material items like ball caps and jerseys following camp. They must either return it to the team or donate it to charity.
  • Cannot miss any classes, so any players who are enrolled into summer classes cannot attend development camp.
  • Some players choose to leave after the 48 hours to keep costs low, and to not risk running afoul of the rules./
