Canadiens cut four players from training camp

Following the annual red vs. white scrimmage earlier today, the Montreal Canadiens have trimmed their camp roster. They went into camp with a fairly large group, so it was expected that they’d release some players before the start of their pre-season on Monday night.

In total, the Canadiens have cut four players. Quentin Miller, Jan Spunar, Cedrick Guindon, and Florian Xhekaj will all be sent back to their respective junior teams.

No surprises here, as they exclusively stuck to junior players in the first round of cuts. These are players who weren’t expected to challenge for NHL roster spots anyways, so it makes sense from a trimming perspective to send them back to junior and reduce their group a little.

A selection of the remaining players will open the pre-season tomorrow night at the Bell Centre against the New Jersey Devils.
