Montreal Canadiens cut five more players, including David Reinbacher

The Montreal Canadiens cut their training camp roster even further after Saturday night’s loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Goaltender Jakub Dobeš, defender William Trudeau, and forwards Sean Farrell and Riley Kidney were sent to the Laval Rocket and fifth overall pick David Reinbacher was loaned to his Swiss club, HC Kloten.

This continues to show the Canadiens, to be frank, aren’t messing around. Trudeau has impressed in camp, and has likely moved up the depth chart, but the team obviously wants him to play a big role in Laval. Ditto for Sean Farrell, who started his professional career in the NHL but will now get a big role with the Rocket. Laval starts training camp on Monday.

Reinbacher was expected to go back to Switzerland but there was always some doubt that the team would keep him around either for a short NHL stint or with the Rocket, but he will go back to Switzerland, work on his game, and return to training camp next season.

Dobeš and Kidney were never really in the mix for roster spots but should see a lot of time in the AHL as they start their first full professional seasons.
