Game 67: Montreal Canadiens @ Calgary Flames
Start time: 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC, CityTV (English), TVA Sports (French)
Streaming: CBC Gem, ESPN+, Sportsnet+
Playing some good hockey even though they’re getting frustrated by the results, the Canadiens have begun their annual trip to Western Canada. It’s their last long stretch away from the Bell Centre this season as the 2023-24 campaign winds down.
Neither the Canadiens nor the Calgary Flames will be playing beyond their 82nd game this year, a third consecutive year missing the playoffs for Montreal and a second for Calgary after they finished atop the Pacific Division in 2022. Montreal is on the verge of becoming a perennial playoff team once more; Calgary is about to go through the rebuilding years the Canadiens are emerging from.
The Canadiens will be playing this game without head coach Martin St-Louis, who headed home this afternoon and will be away from the team for family reasons. If the Habs needed any motivation to play well versus the only Canadian non-playoff club they’ll face over the next few days, it will be to show the coach that they can keep up the level he’s had them playing at throughout the month of March while he takes care of more important matters.
