The Canadiens fell off the pace in the second period of their game with the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday and never recovered, unable to follow up an impressive win over the Boston Bruins with another victory. But they’ve now had a day to recover physically and mentally from a intense match with their rival, and can get back to work with the Calgary Flames in town.

Unlike the Canucks, the Flames aren’t one of the top teams in the league; just the opposite in fact. The playoffs are already slipping away with each loss they accumulate, currently sitting on 10 points through 14 games.

Martin St-Louis has made a few lineup changes for the game, making the common swap of Michael Pezzetta and Jesse Ylönen on the fourth line, but also sitting Jordan Harris for the first time this season, in favour of the recently recalled Gustav Lindström who was initially brought up in case a minor injury for Harris prevented him from playing. Perhaps Harris could use an extra couple of recovery days after all.

In goal, it will be Samuel Montembeault back in for the first time since his win over the Bruins, a start that puts the rotation on schedule for him to face Boston once more this Saturday. Before that big game, the Canadiens first have to take care of business in a game they should be able to win.
