The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Dominique Ducharme will join the team as an assistant coach next season.

The move is part of a bigger shake up behind the bench as assistant coaches Jean-Jacques Daigneault and Dan Lacroix will not be returning to the team. Ducharme will join a coaching staff that includes Claude Julien, Kirk Muller and the newly-extended goaltending coach Stephane Waite.
“I want to sincerely thank Jean-Jacques and Dan for their contribution to the Canadiens’ organization, and particularly their work with our Club’s young players over the years. I got to know JJ and Dan several years ago, and I know how much both care for the success of the Canadiens’ organization. Claude Julien and I are committed to fully evaluating the work of our personnel, and we both agreed to make this difficult decision, and to proceed with these changes in our coaching staff,” said Marc Bergevin in a press release.
Ducharme is 45 years old and won a Memorial Cup coaching Jonathan Drouin and the Halifax Mooseheads. He was most recently with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and coached Team Canada at the World Juniors the last two years.
