The Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward Arnaud Durandeau from the New Jersey Devils in return for Nathan Légaré.

Durandeau is 25 years old and was drafted in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders. He was traded from the Islanders to the Devils earlier in the season. In 38 AHL games this season, he has four goals and 14 assists. He has played four career NHL games.

Légaré, 23, has been in and out of the lineup this season with the Rocket. He was initially acquired in the trade that saw Jeff Petry acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins this off-season. He had six goals and three assists in 39 games this season.

Even though the NHL Trade Deadline has passed, teams can make trades but the players are not eligible to play in the NHL this season. Both Légaré and Durandeau will go directly to the AHL and are eligible for the Calder Cup playoffs should their teams make it.
