After a standout season, Michael McNiven was named the top goaltender in the Ontario Hockey League. At an awards ceremony today, he was announced as the ricipient of the award as the top goaltender in the entire Canadian Hockey League.

McNiven was added to the Montreal Canadiens organization as a free-agent signee after he went unselected in the NHL draft. Since that time his game has grown, and he serves as another member of the Habs’ strong group of young netminders.
McNiven will be turning pro next season, likely joining the Canadiens’ relocated AHL franchise in Laval.
