Michael McNiven named the OHL goaltender of the year

There was some encouraging news on the prospect front for the Montreal Canadiens today.

Goaltender Michael McNven was the recipient of the OHL goalie of the year award, after he helped bring the Owen Sound Attack to the third round of the playoffs. It’s a well-deserved reward for a great OHL career.

Undrafted, McNiven signed a three-year contract with the Canadiens in 2015 after a breakthrough season that saw him named to the first-rookie team.

In 54 games for the Attack he maintained a 41-9-9-2 record, and .915 save percentage. McNiven is set to join the Laval Rocket next season.
