Max Pacioretty’s Highlights of the Year: The OT winner in Winnipeg
The celebration may have been even better than the goal
A Saturday night in Winnipeg, the Montreal Canadiens trailed 4-2 in the third period. But goals from Tomas Plekanec and Jeff Petry tied the game as they went to overtime.
Less than two minutes into overtime, Tyler Myers was called for cross checking and the Canadiens went to the power play.

The goal itself is unremarkable. There was a potential interference penalty that was not called earlier in the sequence. On the play, Shea Weber forced the issue with a forecheck, and the loose puck went to Alex Galchenyuk who one-touched a pass to Pacioretty who took advantage of space to get wide open.
But it wasn’t the goal that I remember. It was the celebration. Pacioretty ran away from his teammates before turning around and raising his arms. It was a rare, spontaneous show of emotion from the Canadiens captain.
