Mark Barberio a healthy scratch against the Sabres

Canadiens defenseman Mark Barberio has been playing great hockey since being called up from the St. John’s IceCaps, and it looked for a bit like he had cemented himself a permanent spot in the Canadiens lineup. Well, it only seemed that way, because he will not be playing tonight.

I understand that Alexei Emelin seems to be a favourite of Michel Therrien, but to remove Barberio from the lineup when he has been performing the way he has is ludicrous. At this point, it isn’t that surprising, because the way the Habs season has been going, it feels like the team and it’s fans just aren’t allowed to have nice things.

I suppose the silver lining here is that Sven Andrighetto, a player many have been calling for of late, will be back in the lineup tonight. Maybe he gives the fans something to cheer about against the Sabres.
