The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has suspended Montreal Canadiens defenceman Kaiden Guhle for one game for slashing Philadelphia Flyers’ forward Travis Konecny in Thursday night’s game.

In response to Konecny’s entanglement with Juraj Slafkovský earlier on the same shift, Guhle reached over from the Canadiens bench to deliver the slash to the Flyers forward as he skated past. No penalty was assessed at the time by the on-ice officials for this act.

This the first suspension of Guhle’s 112-game NHL career. He will not be available for the Habs game on Saturday versus the Carolina Hurricanes.
