After acquiring him from the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier in the day, the Montreal Canadiens announced that they had agreed to a six-year contract extension with Jonathan Drouin. The contract will carry a cap hit of $5.5 million.

The negotiations were part of the process in getting Drouin to Montreal, and the winger signed his new deal in front of the media at his introductory press conference.
