Jonathan Drouin has surgery to set a broken nose

Montreal Canadiens announced that Jonathan Drouin has had surgery to repair a broken nose. Drouin is expected to recover for two to three weeks after the procedure before going back to off-season training.

The procedure was done by Dr. Mirko Gilardano in Montreal and since it is a previously broken nose, according to the press release, Drouin must have finished the season with the injury.

Drouin hinted at an injury at the team’s locker room clearout but it is unknown whether this is what he was referring to.

There was speculation that Drouin would have been a candidate for the Canadian World Championship team. With the news today, there was never really a chance for Drouin to join the team that will play in Košice and Bratislava, Slovakia for the group and the knockout stages.

Drouin is the second Canadiens player to need surgery since the season ended, joining Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
