The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced that they’ll be out essentially their first pairing on defense for a long while, as David Drewiske has undergone wrist surgery and will miss the remainder of the season, and Jarred Tinordi has an upper body injury that will be re-evaluated in three weeks, but could keep him out longer.
Three weeks takes the Bulldogs to their final three games of the regular season, and without two of their top defenseman, that could spell the end of playoff hopes for the last Montreal Canadiens sponsored Bulldogs season ever.
The Bulldogs have 13 games left on their schedule, and sit in 8th place in their conference, only one point ahead of the Adirondack Flames, who have two games in hand. Losing two of their most impactful defensemen for the stretch drive may just be too much for the Bulldogs to overcome, especially with Michael Bournival already out with a concussion, not to mention Magnus Nygren, or Greg Pateryn being up with the Canadiens.
There was a lot of hope that great seasons by Charles Hudon and Mike Condon would propel the Bulldogs into one last playoff run, but it just got a lot tougher.
