Jacob Olofsson named to Sweden’s World Juniors preliminary roster

The Swedish centre Jacob Olofsson has been selected by National U20 team Coach Tomas Montén to the preliminary Swedish roster for the World Junior Championship in Canada.

There will be cuts to the squad, as Canadiens fans are aware of as Lukas Vejdemo was one of the last cuts in 2015, after the games against Russia in Kelowna on the 18th and against Denmark in Chilliwack on the 222nd of December.

Olofsson has been stable for his Timrå team in the SHL this season where has has six points (2G+4A) in 20 games, but he also missed two games after suffering a shoulder injury after hitting the boards in his second SHL game against Växjö Lakers.

Olofsson has been centering the first line in the warm up tournaments in Europe this fall, and he should make the final roster for the “Junior Crowns”.

Interesting additions to the Swedish team from North America include Toronto prospects Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren. Another Toronto prospect that was added to the squad is Pontus Holmberg. Draft eligible overager Samuel Fagemo is also on the preliminary roster.
