Alexander Romanov named to Russia’s preliminary roster for the World Juniors

Alexander Romanov has not only impressed the Montreal Canadiens faithful this season but also the selection committee and Russia’s World Juniors head coach Valeri Bragin with his play for CSKA this season. Romanov was named to Russia’s camp roster today.

The Tsar has not only delivered a strong defensive game but also laid out enormous hits at a few different times in his short KHL and international career.

While really known for his strong defensive game, Romanov possesses a good and heavy slap shot that can be used on the power play, but to expect an offensive break out from Romanov in the WJC would be wrong.

Romanov will be on Russia’s team to anchor the defence and deliver those hits that have earned him a reputation in one of the top professional leagues in the world.

Other notable prospects attending Russia’s camp include New York Rangers first-round pick Vitaliy Kravtsov, and 2017 St. Louis Blues first-round pick Klim Kostin, who is currently in the American Hockey League.
