Jesperi Kotkaniemi left the game early last night as the Laval Rocket were visiting the Cleveland Monsters. Today the Montreal Canadiens organization announced that he spent the night in hospital with a spleen injury, and is now heading back to Montreal for further tests.

The Laval Rocket announced today that forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi suffered a splenic injury during the first period of last night’s game against the Cleveland Monsters.Jesperi was taken to the hospital in Cleveland, where he spent the night under observation.

The exact nature of the injury won’t be known until the tests are completed, but it should be good news that it wasn’t serious enough to prevent his discharge. We will find out more about his situation in the coming days.
