How Max Pacioretty scored his goals in 2013 – Part 2

March 19th, 2013: Brendan Gallagher wins a puck battle along the half wall and takes the puck behind the net. He takes Cody Hodgson and Tyler Myers with him, spins off of both of them and sends a pass to Max Pacioretty in the slot, who makes no mistake in snapping it past Jhonas Enroth. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

April 1st, 2013: Francis Bouillon dumps the puck out of the Habs’ zone and Pacioretty jumps on it, barreling down the right wing. He pulls up inside the Hurricanes‘ zone, dangles around Patrick Dwyer and charges into the gap. He’s stopped by Justin Peters but grabs the rebound and puts it home. This goal was an individual effort off the rush.

April 1st, 2013: After four failed attempts to score on an empty net, Pacioretty beats everyone to the puck after a Brian Gionta attempt and finally scores. This goal was a team effort off the rush.

April 15th, 2013: Subban makes a brilliant play to keep the puck in on the powerplay and exchanges the puck with Bouillon only to get it back. He draws a Flyer towards him and gives the puck to Tomas Plekanec. Plekanec goes high, then drives towards the top of the right circle before firing a hard pass to Pacioretty that Max tips in. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

April 20th, 2013: Josh Gorges dumps the puck in on a seemingly innocuous play, but Pacioretty drifts into open space while Plekanec controls the puck and sends out a pass from behind the net that goes across the crease, allowing Pacioretty to one-time it home. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

April 23rd, 2013: A bit of a scrambled faceoff sends the puck right to Pacioretty in the slot. He tries to backhand a pass to Rene Bourque on the other side of the net, but instead his pass ricochets off of Adam Larsson’s stick and behind Martin Brodeur for a goal. I’m sure he was okay with it. This goal was an individual effort on a zone play.

April 25th, 2013: Pacioretty skates around the outer edges of the scoring area towards the left circle, where he releases a hard wrist shot. The shot bounces up and over Ondrej Pavelec and into the net. David Desharnais swiped at it but missed. This goal was an individual effort on a zone play.

Tomorrow we will break down Pacioretty’s goals entirely, and contrast them with his goals from last season.
