Hamilton Bulldogs to get some reinforcements in Hudon, Collberg, maybe Kristo

Remember how earlier in the season the Hamilton Bulldogs were the youngest team in the AHL? Well they’re about to get a lot younger as it’s expected that along with Brady Vail and Olivier Archambault, Charles Hudon and Sebastien Collberg will be joining the Bulldogs to close out the year.

The four young temporary Bulldogs could be joined by another dynamic prospect in Danny Kristo, who’s North Dakota Fighting Sioux were eliminated from contention for the Frozen Four tournament after losing to Yale of all places.

Kristo finished the year with 26 goals and 26 assists in 40 games, to go with a +17 rating.

Kristo has yet to sign a deal with the Canadiens, and may choose to finish his studies before signing a pro deal like Greg Pateryn did last year, but unlike Pateryn, there may be a shot at an NHL spot for Kristo, so it’s a much different situation.

Either way, the last 10 games of the Bulldogs’ season just got a whole heck of a lot more interesting.

I don’t know if this happens a lot with other teams, or if the Canadiens just have a lot of prospects eliminated from the playoffs early, or if Bergevin is some kind of amazing convincer of prospects to play some extra games, but this flood of young kids to the AHL to get a taste of pro hockey is awesome. Combine that with the rotating prospect defensemen the Habs have been trying out, and you can see the amazing depth in the Habs’ prospect cupboard.
