Habsent Minded: The future is bright

Jared Book, Matt Drake, and Anton Rasegård get together to discuss the Laval Rocket’s playoff push after their win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Monday night at Place Bell.

The Cleveland Monsters also won, meaning that the Rocket stay one point ahead of Cleveland while the Monsters have one game in hand.

The return of Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, Cayden Primeau, Jesse Ylönen, and Corey Schueneman to the Rocket brought instant returns. Harvey-Pinard and Ylönen both had power play goals, Schueneman had an assist, while Primeau made 41 saves for the shutout.

Emil Heineman remains a talking point, surprising everyone with his production to start off his North American pro career. Even when he isn’t scoring, he’s impacting things on the ice.

Heineman is just one of many players who will have their first full season in North American pro leagues next season, joining (at least) Sean Farrell, Joshua Roy, Jayden Struble, Riley Kidney, and Logan Mailloux. Add them to the existing young players already with the Canadiens and Rocket, and you have the potential for some very interesting roster battles for years to come.
