Habsent Minded: It’s not time to worry about the Canadiens

Credit: David Kirouac-USA TODAY Sports

In the latest episode of Habsent Minded, Jared Book is joined by Matt Drake and Patrik Bexell.

To start the episode off, Jared and Patrik discuss the news from over the weekend that David Reinbacher’s team, Kloten EHC, fired their head coach Gerry Fleming. Fleming had a long career coaching, and ties to Montreal and the Canadiens organization. Despite the change, the coaching staff will largely stay the same and Reinbacher is too important to Kloten to see his situation materially change.

The second part of the podcast sees Jared and Matt discuss the recent events of the Canadiens. The Canadiens have put together several poor performances as of late, but as the title says, neither Matt or Jared think it’s time to worry about the team. They also discuss Juraj Slafkovský’s game against Boston.

They then talk a bit about the Laval Rocket and Joshua Roy, who is putting himself in the conversation to be one of the first players recalled should the Canadiens need a forward. The episode ends when they touch on the goaltending situation. There have been a lot of whispers surrounding the Edmonton Oilers and the trio of goaltenders.

It seems like that situation will soon end one way or another, as the three goalies is not a viable long-term strategy.
