Ahead of tonight’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Montreal Canadiens have announced a large round of cuts,

In announcing 25 players to join the Laval Rocket camp, they have trimmed their main camp roster down to 38 players as of this writing. Many of the names were unsurprising, but there were a few that had impressed thus far at camp and perhaps deserved a longer look with the big club.

Joining the Rocket will be the following forwards:

  • Gabriel Bourque
  • Jared Davidson
  • Isaac Dufort
  • Brandon Gignac
  • Nathan Légaré
  • Riley McKay
  • Filip Mesar
  • Jan Mysak
  • Jakov Novak
  • Joshua Roy
  • Xavier Simoneau
  • Ty Smilanic
  • Alex-Olivier Voyer
  • Nolan Yaremko

Defensemen:

  • Tobie Bisson
  • Stanislav Demin
  • Olivier Galipeau
  • Noah Laaouan
  • Christopher Ortiz
  • John Parker-Jones
  • Jayden Struble
  • Miguël Tourigny

Goaltenders:

  • Zachary Émond
  • Strauss Mann
  • Joe Vrbetic

In addition, Owen Beck was returned to the Peterborough Petes in the OHL.

They also placed four players on waivers this morning, so this is part of an overall huge round of cuts from the Habs. More cuts will be to come, possibly even by the end of the weekend.
