Montreal Canadiens place four players on waivers

On Saturday afternoon, the Montreal Canadiens placed four players on waivers. All of them are players who were signed to help out the Laval Rocket and are being sent down to participate in training camp. If they clear, they will be on the ice in Laval when AHL camp begins on Monday.

Mitchell Stephens is the biggest name of the group, a player who really turned his season around in the latter half of 2022-23 to become one of Laval’s most productive forwards. On a team that will feature a lot of young players, the 26-year-old will be one of the veterans on the squad.

Lucas Condotta accomplished the rare feat of dressing for every game last year in the Canadiens organization. He had 31 points in 72 games, and will be one of Jean-François Houle’s most relied-upon options once more.

Nicolas Beaudin also enjoyed a great end to the season after coming to the Rocket in a trade for Cam Hillis. He had 25 points in 39 games in a Rocket jersey, along with a team-high +17 rating.

Brady Keeper was one of just a few free agents the team needed to sign in the off-season to support the youth already in place or coming into the fold. He played last season with the Abbotsford Canucks and will now play (assuming he clears) with another Canadian club.
