Montreal Canadiens Links

Sean Fitzgerald heard about Guy Lafleur’s comments on Max Pacioretty, and he laid out all the facts. Like when I wrote about it, Pacioretty comes off looking pretty good.

According to Jimmy Murphy, Gerard Gallant is the frontrunner for the head coaching job with the Panthers. His connection to Jonathan Huberdeau may give him the leg up he needs. Montreal granted Florida permission to speak with him earlier this week.

According to Johan Ekberg, the Canadiens have made it clear to Magnus Nygren that they want him in North America next year. We all know he doesn’t want to play in Hamilton, so there could be a legit shot at a roster spot.

Habs prospect Jeremy Gregoire won the Guy Lafleur Award of Excellence for his outstanding 18 year old season in the QMJHL, where he scored 44 goals and 92 points in 87 games including the playoffs.

Another Habs prospect from the QMJHL, Martin Reway wants to play professional hockey next year, and if he doesn’t make the Habs, he’s looking at European leagues.
