Gustav Lindström claimed off waivers by Anaheim Ducks

After being placed on waivers, Montreal Canadiens defenceman Gustav Lindström was claimed by the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

Anaheim is fourth in the waiver order, as they have the fourth-worst record in the NHL. Lindström was expected to be sent to the Laval Rocket, where head coach Jean-François Houle intended to play him right away. Laval currently has one right-handed defenceman healthy, after the injury to Brady Keeper.

Lindström played four games for the Rocket, and has played 14 NHL games. He has three goals and one assist. He has not played a game since December 9 against Buffalo.

He was acquired in the trade that saw Jeff Petry go to the Detroit Red Wings before the season started. He was always seen as a depth defenceman, and that’s likely the role he will play in Anaheim, who just traded Jamie Drysdale to the Philadelphia Flyers, who will make his debut tonight against the Canadiens.
