Geoffrion Released From Hospital

Some good news tonight on the Blake Geoffrion front tonight as the 24 year old Hamilton Bulldog was released from the hospital and appears to be doing well.

It’s nice to hear after days of stories talking about how dangerous the injury actually was.

To be clear, the prognosis on Geoffrion playing is still murky. All brain injuries carry certain inherent risks, and due to a history of concussions at just 24, everyone should be hoping that the Montreal Canadiens organization is as patient as possible with Blake.

Purely my own opinion here, but I have a feeling that there’s a chance Geoffrion takes what he has, and leaves hockey. I’m sure at this point this is a non-starter for him, but he’s one of the few NHLers that graduated with a college degree, so he has a good backup plan, and parents who are clearly supportive of him.

I could be completely off base there, and I hope his health situation is so good that I’m being completely irrational. However if that is the choice Geoffrion makes, everyone should support him. A person’s health should always come first.
